Burdock and Regulatory T cells

Burdock and Regulatory T cells

This year (2025), Dr. Shimon Sakaguchi of Japan was selected alongside two others for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
The award recognized the discovery of regulatory T cells, which suppress immune cells.
Regulatory T cells are generated between the small and large intestines, and it is known that butyric acid bacteria play a significant role in this process.
One of the foods that serves as nourishment for these butyrate-producing bacteria is fructooligosaccharides (inulin). While several foods are rich in, burdock root is one of them.
Regulatory T cells are believed to control autoimmune responses and are considered effective against allergies. The benefits of burdock root are becoming increasingly clear.
